  • The Karnes County Sheriff Department is hiring for a full-time maintenance position that will be responsible for the maintaining and daily repairs of the Sheriff Department offices and Karnes County Jail.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    • Responsible for fixing, repairing and building any items that are needed to run the Karnes County Sheriff department offices and Karnes County Jail
    • Responsible for outside grounds to include mowing, edging and maintaining plants
    • Order and maintain adequate supplies for the jail
    • Maintain all paperwork associated with maintaining the facilities
    • Utilize available inmate labor required to keep the facilities in good condition

    Physical Demands / Working Conditions

    • Frequent standing
    • Frequent walking
    • Frequent heavy work
    • Constant eye/hand coordination
    • Occasional lifting or carrying

    Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Basic reading skills
    • Report writing skills
    • Interpersonal skills
    • At least 6 months experience
    • Pre-employment drug screening and background check
    • Preferred TCOLE jailers license

  • Job Type: Part-time (29 hours per week)

    Pay Scale: $12 per hour

     

    Kenedy Public Library is seeking a qualified individual as a Library Aide. This is a part-time help position for approximately 25 weeks. Library /Summer Aide will be under the supervision of Library Director. In such case the Director is out, Library /Summer Aide will be supervised under the direction of the Library Clerk. 

    Aide's duties will include helping library patrons/visitors in finding materials, cataloging materials, and any other library duties requested by Library Director or Library Clerk. 

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma, or in the process of obtaining a diploma, or GED
    • Basic reading skills
    • Writing skills
    • Interpersonal skills
