Young County Taking Applications for Veteran’s Service Officer
Young County, Texas is now taking applications for appointment to the part-time position of Veteran’s Service Officer. The purpose of the Veteran’s Service Officer (VSO) is to administer the County’s responsibilities in veteran’s service programs and to advise and assist the CommissionersCourt on veteran’s affairs. The person occupying this position is appointed by, and reports directly to, the Young County CommissionersCourt.
The VSO is responsible for the direction and management of the Young County Veteran’s Service Office, whose purpose is to assist veterans and their dependents or survivors in obtaining benefits for which they are entitled or eligible, and provide overall direction to program management for County veteran’s programs, including planning for future programs. The VSO must interact with, and have a rapport with, local military and veteran's organizations. The position is also responsible for furthering the public good will of the office through public relations activities.
Applications are available in the Young County Auditor’s Office at 516 Fourth Street, Suite 103 Graham, Texas 76450. Applications will be accepted until 9:00 a.m. on August 2, 2010 and considered by the Commissioners Court at their regular meeting on August 2, 2010.
